Your sneakers will always have a small loop at the end of the ankle section. Called pull loops, they are for the convenience of pulling on your shoes. Give credit to shoe companies for such small details.

Have you noticed that at the bottom of your wine bottle there is a concave bump? Called a punt the only purpose it serves is to help keep the bottle upright and prevent it from toppling over.

5Aglets
Here is another tough one for many. Your shoelaces have a metal or plastic fastener at the end of it. These are called aglets and prevent the laces from getting splayed and shredded. A good invention this one.
Drop catcher
The name has nothing to do with a game or a sports item and no it isn’t a person who drops catches in cricket. When you order a wine with your dinner at a restaurant you will understand what that object is called on the stem of your wine bottle. It’s called a drop catcher.
7Ferrule
This sounds very scientific and ferrules are also a device used in plumbing pipes. However, did you know that the metal that fastens the eraser to your pencil is also called a ferrule? It is described as an object to hold something in place.

8Locker Loop
Don’t look for a locker loop in your locker as you won’t find it. Locker loops are found at the back of your shirt. These are put there for the purpose of hanging the shirt in a cupboard, on a wall or a locker hook.

9Crown
This perhaps will be well known by the older generation as no one really wears wrist watches anymore unless it’s necessary. The crown is that little knob you find on wristwatches which allow you to adjust the time.

10Teeth
Combs have teeth too but this isn’t what we are talking about. While the chain is the zipping part of a sipper, the other serrated parts that lock into each other is called the teeth. That is why you can really get hurt when they bite your you know what.
