Headaches can be debilitating. Whether it’s a sinus headache resulting from a cold, a cluster headache, or a full-blown migraine, headaches prevent you from getting work done, participating in the activities you love, and enjoying time with friends and family.

You have probably been told by your doctor to take a painkiller as soon as you feel a headache coming on, or perhaps you even have a prescription. With all the new evidence that has called into question the efficacy of these drugs, it leaves many of us with the difficult decision to suffer alone in a dark room, or take the risk and numb the pain.

The Problem with NSAIDs

NSAIDs, or Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, are often used and prescribed by doctors to treat pain of all kinds, from arthritis to menstrual cramps. Common NSAIDs include Ibuprofen, Asprin, Midol, and Naproxin.  According to the FDA, NSAIDS may (1):
  • Increase the risk of heart attack or stroke
  • Cause ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or the intestines
  • high blood pressure
  • heart failure due to excess fluid retention of the body
  • kidney failure
  • liver failure
  • anemia
  • life-threatening skin and allergic reactions
  • anemia
  • asthma attacks
Other potential side effects include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. Some studies have even linked the use of NSAIDs to miscarriages. (2)

Natural Solutions

If that list scares you, you’re probably feeling lost as to how to find relief from your headaches without the risk. Luckily, there are measures you can take to rid you of your pain easily at home, completely drug-free.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese Medicine practice that uses tiny needles on the areas that you feel pain, in order to relieve the excess tension and pressure that is causing you pain. Not only could this technique cure you of your headaches, but it could also help improve stress, anxiety, and depression. Acupuncture should always be done by a certified professional.

Acupressure

Acupressure is the same concept as acupuncture, only you are using your hands and fingers to target specific trigger points to relieve the pressure in your head. Unlike acupuncture, you can safely practice acupressure on yourself the minute you start to feel the tension rising.
You can even try this natural way to reduce pain! It’s a wearable acupressure from Aculief which can be worn on your hand as an alternative to painkillers

A headache is not the most pleasant of feelings. Even more so when it strikes you at work or on the road, when you don’t have pills handy, or when you actually don’t want to take them until absolutely necessary.
Today Bright Side has a simple method for you to get rid of headaches, stress, nausea, and vomiting in just 30 seconds without any medications.
There are active spots on our body that can be massaged to relieve pains and aches of different natures. Such acupressure techniques are also helpful to get rid of headaches.

Relieve stress and vomiting

This point is located one finger lower than your hand pulse.
What should you do?
Use a finger from your other hand to press this point for 30 seconds. Use circular motions. You may feel a deep achy sensation, but it should not be painful. If you’ve done everything correctly, your stress and vomiting will soon dissipate.

...or try another pressure point

The point to press is situated on your palm between the thumb and index finger. Connect these fingers to find it — see the prominent muscle on your palm? That’s it.
What should you do?
Press on this point so that your thumb is on the back of your hand. Your index finger presses from below on the palm. Maintain the pressure for 30 seconds, then alternate your hands and do the same for the other hand for 30 seconds. If you’ve done everything correctly, your headache will soon dissipate.
Attention!
Pregnant women shouldn’t practice this technique as it may cause premature labor.

However, to do this successfully both the person who sent a message and the person receiving it must be using the latest version of WhatsApp.
"Recipients may see your message before it's deleted or if deletion was not successful," WhatsApp warned.
"You will not be notified if deleting for everyone was not successful."
The recall feature works for any type of message including text, images and videos.
However, people can still take a screenshot of your shameful messages, so we'd still advise being cautious before hitting the send button.
