The 17 Most Expensive Materials In The World

For many centuries, lots of people have believed that gold is one of the most expensive materials in the world. This, however, is absolutely wrong.
has compiled a list of materials of value, rating them from the lowest price to the highest one. Let’s skip ahead a bit: gold is not even in the top three here.

16. Saffron — $11 per gram

This spice is unique, combining fantastic taste and great health benefits. Its production process is highly time and effort consuming, but the flavor and healing properties of saffron are unequaled by any other spice.

15. Gold — $56 per gram

The most well-known precious metal that no woman can supposedly do without. Gold has been worshipped from time immemorial, and all things beautiful are inevitably compared to it.

14. Rhodium — $58 per gram

A metal of the platinum group and an extremely rare one. To give you the big picture, let’s say that one ton of earth crust contains about 0.001g of rhodium.

13. Platinum — $60 per gram

This is a rare and precious metal of a silvery steel color. Like gold, it’s highly resistant to acids, alkali, and other compounds.

12. Methamphetamine — $100 per gram

This is what the protagonists of Breaking Bad were cooking. It’s prohibited by law, and you’d do well if you don’t see it in person. Ever.

11. Rhinoceros’s horn — $110 per gram

Although science has proven that rhino horn has no medicinal properties, they are still considered valuable because of this property and as great knife handles. Because of poachers, poor rhinos are already on the verge of extinction.

10. Heroin — $130 per gram

An opiate that changes your perception. Once again, better you never see it for yourself. If the movies speak the truth, it’s very hard to get, and that’s probably why it’s so expensive.

9. Cocaine — $236 per gram

A drug that costs a fortune yet won’t do you any good whatsoever. This white crystal powder is a fatally dangerous narcotic. Its higher price, as compared to the one above, is explained by its ’purity’ and naturalness.

8. LSD — $3,000 per gram

A psychoactive narcotic substance, and a very expensive delayed death. The manufacturing process of this semi-synthetic drug is quite difficult, which explains the cost.

7. Plutonium — $4,000 per gram

A heavy yet fragile radioactive metal of a silvery-white color. Its uses vary from production of nuclear weapons and fuel to a source of energy for spacecrafts.

6. Painite — $9,000 per gram

This stone is so rare that very few people actually know it exists. It’s a mineral of an orange or reddish-brown color, and it was only discovered 65 years ago. There are just a couple hundred of these stones in the world today.

5. Taaffeite — $20,000 per gram or $4,000 per carat

A precious stone of a violet, pink, red, or white color. It is a million times rarer than diamonds, making it legendary. However, despite its uniqueness, it’s not very popular when it comes to jewelry — and that’s probably the reason why it’s relatively inexpensive.

4. Tritium — $30,000 per gram

This gas is used in lighting — for example, in tritium illumination. It costs about $15 million to produce a pound of tritium.

3. Diamond — $55,000 per gram

The most famous precious stone on Earth, and the best friend of any lady.

2. Californium — $25-27 million per gram

The most expensive chemical element ever. It has been synthesized only once since its discovery in 1950.

1. Antimatter — $62.5 trillion per gram

The most expensive substance on Earth. Production of one milligram of positrons costs about $25 million. In theory, we will be able to use antimatter as fuel for spacecrafts in the future. But the drawback today is that to make just one gram of it, all of mankind will have to work for about a year without rest.

Bonus: Jade stone — $170 million

Miners in Myanmar have found the world’s largest jade stone in a remote mine in Kachin State, in the north of the country. The stone is 14ft high and 19ft long, and weighs approximately 200 tons. This beautiful jade boulder will be sent to China, where it will be carved up into expensive jewelry and sculptures.

create video what we do together on Facebook

Facebook has quietly rolled out a new personalised video feature aimed at celebrating its user community.

The video is essentially a slideshow of your top tagged photos and also your top featured photos. It also provides an insight on how many love emojis you’ve sent on the network. The video is roughly a minute long.

“Community is about getting together in real life to do the things you love. So far, people on Facebook have met up at over 100 million new events this year,” says Facebook on its website. “Every month, 1.4 billion people use groups on Facebook to share the things that matter most, support each other and connect through their unique and wonderful interests.”
Although Facebook’s new video feature isn’t available for all users, it has promised to roll it out for everybody very soon. “We’re creating a video celebrating how you and your community are better together. Come back soon to watch it,” reads a Facebook notification.

To watch your Facebook’s community celebrating video, simply tap on the “watch yours” icon appearing in your friend’s video on the News Feed. The link redirects you to a page where you can see the automated video that Facebook has developed for you, before you share it with your friends.

In case you don’t like the automatic video created by Facebook, you can further customise it by tapping or clicking on the Edit button. The first three photos are your top tagged photos posted by friends. While you can choose from the options provided, you can also add more photos from your Facebook gallery or device. You can do the same for the other three photos, which are your top photos.

10 Scientific Beliefs That Are Now Officially Declared To Be False

10 Scientific Beliefs That Are Now Officially Declared To Be False
Which among the two do you think has more of a probability of killing us-getting crushed by an asteroid or getting roasted by lightning?

It would be surprising to know that we have a more probability of dying by getting crushed by an asteroid double the times compared to getting struck by lightning. According to the “book of general ignorance” written John Lloyd and John Mitchinson, the earth is struck

by lightning bolts approximately 17million times a day, which on an average becomes 200 strikes a second. The probability of a fatal electrocution is 1 in10 million, which is the same probability of being bitten by a venomous snake. Ignorance isn’t the bliss that it has been made out to be so here nine scientific so called truths that are actually false.

1Did you know that chameleons don’t change their color?

Till now everyone was of the opinion that depending on their surroundings a chameleon changed their color. But!! Here’s the truth. Chameleons can’t protect themselves against stronger predators that would eat them. They never had that caliber of fighting and protecting themselves. The truth is that the chameleon changes its color based on its emotional state. It is very coincidental that the color of the chameleon is same as the color of its surrounding.

When someone picks up a chameleon or when it is scared or when it just had a duel with another chameleon, it changes its color. Chameleons have two layers superimposed on each other, one changes its color and the other regulates body temperature. The presence of a female, the wavelength of light falling on its skin and temperature also changes the color. Chameleons skin is made up of special cells known as chromatophores which are divided into different layers and each reflects a different color. When there is a change in the ratio of a skin layer, there is a change in the color.

2The blue whale is not the planet’s biggest creature

We believed that the blue whale was the biggest creature on Earth but we were wrong! Mr. Big whale is surely the biggest mammal but the biggest creature is, in fact, a mushroom. The honey mushroom whose scientific name is Armillaria Ostoyaeor is also called Humongous fungus.

It grows in the Forests of Oregon

The honey mushroom growing in Malheur National Forest, Oregon, USA is a record breaker of sorts. Its estimated age is between 2,000-8,000 years (Its accurate age cannot be figured out). It covers 880 hectares (around 2,200 acres). Its Inner layers remain hidden from our naked eye. It even grows underground in the shape of huge white mycelium. The mycelium grows over plants and trees root and absorbs their nutrition and minerals and starts sucking the life energy out of the trees. Occasionally, it grows on surfaces disguised as a small beautiful golden mushroom while hiding the giant in it and under the surface.

3Cockroaches cannot survive a nuclear war

People for a long time have believed the cockroaches cannot be harmed and killed by natural causes unless of course you stomp them or spray them. They have been on Earth longer than humans (Almost 280 million years) and are extremely difficult to get rid of. If they have invaded a household, it becomes a nightmare. In fact, they have tendencies of living headless for quite a bit of time. In 1959 experiments were conducted to show that during a nuclear holocaust cockroaches would be the first insects to die.

A human being stands more chances of survival than cockroaches but guess who can stand the most

Wharton and Wharton conducted a scientific test in which species of different insects were exposed to different levels of radiations. A conclusion was made that a human being can be exposed to 1000 RAD, while a cockroach can be exposed to 20,000 RAD. A flying yellow was can be exposed to 180,000 RAD. But the real king that can be exposed to 1.5 million RAD is a tiny bacteria called Deionococcus durans, which endures double the exposure value if the bacteria is frozen in state.

4Eating lots of carrots does not improve your eyesight

A good source of vitamin A is carrots. When a person is deficit of vitamin! He usually suffers from night blindness, a condition in which the rate of your eye to adapt to darkness decreases gradually. Increasing intake of Vitamin A, present in carotene can cure the deficiency. Carrots do contain a lot of carotene, but blueberries, spinach, apricot and other vegetables consisting of dark-colored leaves contain more carotene.

Carrots don’t improve night vision

Curing Night blindness and fixing you observed on your skin after consuming a lot of carrots but it won’t cure your night vision. During World War 2, John Cunningham, Captain of squadron 604 had impeccable night vision so he fought mostly at night. Thus, he came to be known as the Cat’s eye. The British government spread the rumor that he got this vision because he used to eat a lot of carrots. The truth was that the captain was actually testing a top secret radar, which actually had nothing to do with his night vision and carrot consumption.

5The recommended amount of sleep is not neccessary 8 hours

Daniel Kripke published an article in 2004, which stated that adults who sleep 6-7 hours during night tend to live longer than those who sleep 8 hours. His study included 1.1 million participants and it took 6 years to complete it. A greater number of people who slept for more than 4 hours and less than 8 hours stayed alive to the end of the study. Sleeping less than 8 hours is not as harmful as we expected it to be.

It is sleep deprivation that harms you

We should also make sure that we are not being sleep deprived. It is sleep deprivation that throws the brain into confusion making it dysfunctional, lack focus, concentration and decisiveness. Sleep deprivation lowers immunity and make you irritable.

7 Things Your Hands Can Tell About Your Health

Hands are one of the first body parts to show signs of aging. But they can also indicate certain health problems. Doctors say that the condition of your hands can be a result of several medical changes going on elsewhere in your body.
Bright Side gathered 7 symptoms that you should pay attention to in order to maintain your health.

Red palms

Doctors explain that red palms (or palmar erythema) can be a sign of liver problems, especially if you are over 50 years old. Usually the redness is located in the outer edge of the palm. The possible reason for red palms is a change in the hormonal balance which causes blood vessel dilation. Rheumatoid arthritis can be also a reason for redness on the palms.

If you’ve spotted red areas on your hands, you should get medical advice to find out the true reason for it. Meanwhile, try to switch to a healthy diet and lower your alcohol intake.

Sweaty palms

There are several possible reasons for sweaty palms:
  • excessive sweating
  • stress
  • overactive thyroid
In case of hyperhidrosis, which is excessive sweating, you can try strong antiperspirants. You can also get a medical procedure done to fight hyperhidrosis.
Try to limit your alcohol intake and learn to control your stress levels (meditation, “inhale-exhale” technique). If nothing seems to work you should definitely make a doctor’s appointment.

Loss of sensitivity and tingling

Sometimes we wake up with the feeling that we have lost sensitivity in certain parts of our body, and when we move it starts tingling. Usually it’s just because we pressed on the sensory nerve for a long time. The tingling is the time that the nerve needs to get back to work.
In some cases these symptoms in the hands can be a sign of a more serious problem like cervical osteochondrosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, venous thrombosis of the limb, a brachial plexus injury, anemia or diabetes. If you often experience loss of sensitivity in your hands without an obvious reason, go and consult with your doctor.

Dry hands

The most common reasons for dry skin on the hands are dehydration and estrogen deficiency which goes hand-in-hand with menopause. To avoid dehydration drink enough water and use moisturizing hand creams. Include oily fish, seeds, and nuts in your diet. Visit your doctor for hormonal replacement therapy, it will help you to control the estrogen drop.

Trembling hands

It’s known that shaking hands can be a sign of serious health problems like Parkinson’s Disease. If you have serious concern go and get medical advice. In the meantime limit your strong coffee and alcohol intake because they can also cause trembling hands. Other possible reasons are anxiety and major stress.

Weak nails

Weak or cracked nails can be a symptom of zinc deficiency. Zinc is really important for our health, it promotes wound healing, helps cells divide, and strengthens the immune system. Add some zinc-rich foods to you diet like oats, nuts, and meat. Doctors also recommend taking zinc as a supplement if its level is low in your body.

Clubbed fingers

If your fingers look like a club or a drumstick where the nail and finger develop a bulbous end, usually there’s a deficit of the oxygen in your body. It may be the symptom of a more serious disease like lung cancer or heart disease. Go and get professional medical advice if you experience “clubbing.”
Have you ever experienced any of these symptoms? Let us know in the comments below if you’ve noticed a connection between your hands and your health.

If You See This Label On The Fruit Do Not Buy It At Any Cost

When shopping for fruit have you noticed that several varieties come with labels on them. While some labels depict the country of export, others could even depict a brand.

However!! That isn’t the issue; the main issue is a little code number which you may be clueless about.

Fruits have labels which mean a lot and because you may have no idea what they actually mean, you make purchases without knowing how dangerous they could be to your health. If you see this label on fruit, avoid it at all costs. Read on to know why.

1Why do fruits have labels?

Labels on fruit are known as the PLU number. This stands for Product looking Number. Just as your plastic ware has different codes, fruit too has a PLU number which corresponds to valuable information connected to it. So what do these numbers mean?
The PLU number denotes the process that has gone into producing the fruit. Whether it is organic or grown on commercial farms, whether it has been sprayed with chemicals etc.

 2What do PLU numbers mean?

When the PLU is a 4 digit number that may start with a 3 or a 4, the fruit isn’t GMO food but has been grown in farms which have used pesticides and chemicals.
A number 9 denotes that the fruit is organic and grown without chemicals. That could be the best possible item you could choose. Organic produce is grown without chemicals. But when the number starts with an 8, it is a GMO produce and then you should avoid it at any cost.

 3What are GMO fruit?

If you see this label on fruit denoting a GMO grown fruit, it means that it is a genetically modified produce. It means that the fruit has been genetically modified by making changes to its DNA. Such modification can be effected by inserting DNA of other produce or even bacteria to enhance the growth of the fruit.
Now you know what labels on fruit mean, you can practice caution when making your purchases at your grocery store.
