When Women Lead, Everyone Progresses

March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day that celebrates the many contributions that women around the world make to their communities every day.

In 2017, International Women’s Day was the #1 most talked-about moment of the year*. It was a moment that rallied the world around empowering women, and that was just the beginning of mounting energy for women’s movements that shows no signs of slowing down in 2018.

Every day we see women using Facebook Groups, Pages and Fundraisers to truly make a positive impact in their communities:
  • Maria, leads Supergirls, a group of nearly 90,000 women in Israel who share the same challenges in life: career, family and identity. Supergirls is a home for sharing deep secrets, asking personal questions or having a shoulder to cry on, and has held more than 100 community meetings to have social impact not only online, but in person.
  • Angel works for the Alameda County Fair, a 20-day, 150-year-old fair that began in 1859 in downtown Oakland as a floral event. With no previous marketing experience but a passion for the fair, Angel took a job in the marketing department. She started a Facebook Page, and from there Angel has grown their following to 100,000, increased ticket sales, and helped to hire 25 additional employees.
  • For her birthday last November, Natalie asked her friends and family to help support Women and Children First: The Center Against Family Violence, Central Arkansas’s largest Domestic Violence Shelter offering emergency shelter, support services and advocacy. She saw such great momentum, that she surpassed her fundraising goal and raised enough to help two women leave abusive relationships and be safe.
On March 8, we are helping celebrate women like these who are leading the way in their communities:
  • First, the Credit Her campaign will spotlight women from the past and present — such as Billie Jean King and Big Mama Thornton — to whom we want to help give credit for their incredible contributions. This will be available on facebook.com/facebook on March 8.
  • Second, on mobile devices, people will have the opportunity to show their support through cards, photo frames or themed backgrounds for text posts, all designed to inspire people to express themselves on this day. Look for a message in News Feed on March 8, or visit facebook.com/iwd.
  • Finally, #SheMeansBusiness, a program established by Facebook in 2016 to support women-owned businesses, is launching Community Finder. This tool will give female entrepreneurs the power to connect with each other and share questions, advice, resources and support to help them grow their businesses. We’re also hosting Open Door events at Facebook offices around the world where women can participate in workshops, discussions and networking opportunities. Visit shemeansbusiness.fb.comfor more information.
We hope everyone will join in on the moment and celebrate the women in their lives — whether they contributed to your success, lifted you up, or inspired you and others in your community.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, he said: 'Brazil is where I was born but I consider myself to be British.
'I'm scared for my life to go back as that is the place that I was bullied and victimised when I was younger. I'm always attacked by people there on social media and they talk about me a lot on social media. I spend hours deleting the nasty comments.
Rodrigo revealed that part of his reasoning to go home is to address the relentless online bullying he's faced from his fellow Brazilians.
'I am keen to go there to redress the balance because they are still bullying me,' he added. 'They can be small and narrow minded. I will be making sure I have even more security there.

'I left when I was 18 and I'm nearly 35 now, it will be scary but I'm ready to face it.
'I'm coming back to Brazil to visit my elderly grandmother. I'm on the news almost everyday in Brazil and am under a lot of scrutiny. I'm flying out there to clear the air and show who I really am. I feel very unsafe in Brazil.
Continuing: 'I'm nervous to go out there therefore my agents are looking into a security company to take care of me.'

Speaking about his fourth appearance on the show, he explained: 'I have a contract with Mediaset Italy and once a month I have a one hour slot on Domenica Live with Barbara D’urso, on the show we talk about travel, life style, current affairs and all my latest news.
Adding: 'I've appeared on 63 TV shows across the globe, I'm known everywhere and in Italy thanks to Barbara.'
Following his appearance, he admitted to MailOnline that that he has grown such a following in the Mediterranean country that he has five body guards always in tow.
He shared: 'I have been on this show in Italy a few times. I get so much attention there that I have to have five bodyguards.

'I don’t feel unsafe at all the security is only needed to manage my fans often when I go to a shop they have to close the shops so people stops coming inside for selfies only.
'I don't mind though, this is what I wanted. My fans are so lovely and I am a phenomenon there. Although it can be scary, I wouldn't change it.'
Despite his fandom in Italy, Rodrigo insisted that he won't be going under the knife again unless he needs to and upon reflection regrets some of his more recent procedures.
He said: 'Barbara (D’urso) was shocked when she saw my new look and that I am not having more surgery. I won't have more surgery unless I need it, like something collapses.

‏‎Samsung Galaxy S9‎‏

Samsung just announced the Galaxy S9, and now we’re getting details on how much retailers and wireless carriers are going to charge for it.

The cheapest way to get the phone (without a trade-in) is through Samsung itself. But pricing gets surprisingly more complicated when you bring in wireless carriers: AT&T and Verizon are charging extra,
but they’re also offering trade-in discounts that can more than offset the price increase.
Here are the details we have so far — we’ll be updating with more info as it comes out. In all cases, preorders start March 2nd and sales start March 16th.

SAMSUNG

Buy it outright: S9 for $719.99; S9 Plus for $839.99.
Monthly installments: $30 per month for 24 months for the S9; $35 per month for 24 months for the S9 Plus. Prices are a cent more expensive than buying it outright.

AT&T

Buy it outright: S9 for $790.20; S9 Plus for $915.
Monthly installments: $26.34 per month for 30 months for the S9; $30.50 per month for 30 months for the S9 Plus. Those come to the same prices as buying the phone outright.

VERIZON

Buy it outright: $800 for the S9; $930 for the S9 Plus.
Monthly installments: $33.33 per month for 24 months for the S9; $38.74 per month for 24 months for the S9 Plus. You save a few cents paying this way instead of buying outright.
Trade-in: $100 to $350 off the S9 or S9 Plus when you buy it on an installment plan and trade-in a working phone in good condition. In order to get the $350, you have to trade in a Galaxy S8, iPhone 8, or newer (so realistically, only very serious Samsung fans will take this trade-in offer). Other flagships from last year fetch $300; and you can get $200 off for two to three year old phones. Phones like the iPhone SE and Galaxy S5 get $100. The trade-in value is broken up across the life of your payments, so you’re still looking at two years of bills.

T-MOBILE

Monthly installments: $30 per month for 24 months for the S9; same for the S9 Plus, but it also requires a $120 down payment. That’s $720 in total for the S9; $840 for the S9 Plus.
Trade-in: Up to $360 off an S9 or S9 Plus when purchased on an installment plan. You can trade in flagship phones as far back as an iPhone 6S or a Galaxy S7 and get $360 off. T-Mobile will also give $200 off for trade-ins of flagships as far back as the iPhone 5S and Galaxy S4. The discount comes with bill credits, so you’ll have to stay with T-Mobile to get the full offer.
